open studios

What is open studios?

Free and open to the public, Open Studios is a hallmark event of the Loft Artists Association. For many years, the organization has opened its doors for a full weekend in November. Studio artists are in their studios with completed and in process work on display for people to see and inquire about. Non studio artists exhibit their work in the two gallery spaces and are also available to engage with the public about their work and process. Artwork is available for purchase in all spaces.

What to expect - why you should attend

Open studios is a unique community event in which the public can engage with practicing, professional artists working in their studios and galleries.  The model of artists sharing a building with galleries and studios is much more uncommon than it used to be, which makes these opportunities very rare and special.  A typical gallery visit does not provide an opportunity to talk to artists, ask questions and see the actual process behind their work.

This event aside from being a great chance to view and purchase artwork, is also a wonderful educational opportunity for the general public. Artists share their stories and artistic journeys and people gain a better understanding of the inspirations behind the creative process. It also is an amazing opportunity to view, in one location, a broad and diverse range of artwork including, drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, collage, mixed media, sculpture and installation work.
