Angela Pierro

Our world comes to us illuminated; steeped in color. As an artist, I’ve always been fascinated by this relationship – the affect light has on color, and the visceral response we, in turn, have to it. The natural convergence of these things has long been a driving force in my work, one that is in a perpetual state of reinvention, inspired by my love of nature, and memory of place. My hope is to create work that invites quiet contemplation and an escape to a reality both familiar and foreign; an exploration of the dynamic space that exists between the light and the dark.

Angela Pierro is a graduate of the OCAD University (Ontario College of Art and Design University) in Toronto. Pierro also studied in Europe, through York University’s off-campus program attending lectures at the Royal College of Art, University of Brighton in England, École Superieure d’arts Graphiques et d’architecture in Paris, France, and at the Domus Academy in Milan, Italy. Pierro went on to work as a graphic designer and art director in various Canadian and American corporations, then worked as the principal of her own design firm and part-time faculty at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Pierro’s work is included in institutional libraries’ Special Collections as well as in private and corporate collections throughout the U.S. and Canada.
