Mission = Art Education For The Community
The LAA is an organization built by local artists and the strong community in Stamford that consistently supports the arts. Our goal has always been to offer a destination in the city for children, adults and families to experience art and art education and become inspired to share it with the community. The LAA is proud to be one of Stamford’s premier arts and cultural organizations offering high quality classes and other educational and outreach programming.

At the LAA, our annual Drawing Workshops take place on two Saturdays in March. Activities are intentionally designed for students, adults and families. Come and draw from portrait models and still life set ups. Experience the interactive graffiti wall. Sketch the live models from the Ballet School of Stamford. Participate in mini workshops on topics such as shading, perspective and pen and ink. LAA artists teach all classes which helps make it possible for the organization to offer this amazing educational programming free of charge.
Art In The Community
Along with our in house workshops and classes, the LAA seeks to bring art into the community. We have worked with local organizations and community and senior centers such as Atria, Domus Kids and the Domestic Violence Crisis Center to provide on-site art education and instruction for residents and visitors. We collaborate with other area non-profits such as Laurel House, the Stamford Museum and Nature Center and SUNY Purchase to create interesting art exhibits that provide venues for a diverse population of artists to share their work. The LAA also partners with cultural organizations such as the The Bartlett Arboretum, Palace Theater and Mayor’s Gallery to provide rotating exhibits within these organizations’ own venues.
