Multi-Medium Exploration

for Rising 1st, 2nd and 3rd Graders

June 17-21, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Jump into a weeklong art adventure with experienced Loft Artist Association teacher/artists. Participants will create, experiment, and produce their own unique creations. Explore various art forms including drawing and painting, mixed media and collage, and clay and “found object” sculpture. All materials are provided to allow young artists to bring home several assorted masterpieces.

Building Our Environment

For Rising 6th, 7th and 8th Graders

July 15 - 19, 9:30 - 12:00 PM

We will spend the week exploring the ideas of “home,” “city,” and “infrastructure.” Through visual means – drawing, mapping, and building - the group will think about the many elements that come together to make up our environment. Our tools will be our surroundings and imagination. By the end of the week, you will look at and understand the world in which we live in a new way. This will be a journey of discovery and artful expression.

Multi-Medium Exploration

for Rising 4th and 5th Graders

June 17-21, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Participants will engage in a variety of activities, using many different types of mediums and learn different artistic techniques, including the following:

Drawing - learning how to see like an artist, using contour lines and shading

Painting - color exploration and painting with watercolor

Collage - using our color exploration pages and marbleized paper

Sculpture - using cardboard and found objects

Community & Education

Outreach

The LAA is committed to providing art education to the community at large. Our educational programming, partially funded by the City of Stamford, The Connecticut Office of the Arts and The National Foundation of the Arts, enables us to offer in house classes and workshops as well as “push in” workshops and events at local community and senior centers.

Workshops

Each summer, the LAA hosts over 150 children as part of our Summer Art Saturday Workshops. Children engage with our artists in dynamic and creative classroom settings focused on a variety of artistic mediums.
